Is it Easy to See Bed Bugs?

Adult bed bugs only reach about 5 mm in length, making them hard to spot. They are particularly hard to find for two main reasons: they like to hide out of sight, and they’re often confused for other pests. To add to these, bed bugs are nocturnal and will stay nested in their cracks and crevices until they come out at night to feed. This makes it hard to tell when they’ve infested your home.

Where do Bed Bugs Like to Hide?

Bed bug infestations usually start because the property owner unknowingly transported the bed bugs onto their own property. Bed bugs hide insides backpacks, luggage, purses, clothing, and more places that you wouldn’t expect. This is why so many infestations start after someone has come back from vacation. Bed bugs are also often brought indoors through used furniture. Luckily, bed bugs don’t hitch rides on people, but once they’re indoors, they can quickly find a hiding spot.

Where You Should Look for Bed Bugs in Bristol and Johnson City

Because bed bugs are nocturnal, it can be tricky to find them during the day. They usually hide near places where people rest, though. This includes mattresses and bedding, upholstered furniture, chairs, and more. They also like to hide out behind wallpaper, under rugs and carpets, inside cracks in walls, electrical outlets, and other tiny gaps around your home.
